Which fish can be found on our tables in the month of June? We’ll tell you here!

We’re sure your itinerary for your next holidays in Palinuro, Italy will include sampling local fish. Did we guess right? We’re certain we did. But what kinds of fish can you eat in June? In case you don’t already know, June is the best month for catching mullet, dentex, and hake, a fish that is similar to cod but is longer and more slim-bodied. It’s also the perfect time to sample sea bream, swordfish, and anchovies. In the Cilento region and the rest of Campania, anchovies are used to make a renowned product, the famous “colatura” fish sauce. You simply have to try the “menaica” anchovies, whose name originates from the ancient technique of fishing from rowing boats known as “Menaide”, which are typical of Pisciotta. The anchovies are often cooked with a goat’s cheese filling, which you’ll find called “alici ‘imbottunate” on menus. You can enjoy these and many other specialities in the restaurant of our hotel in Palinuro, where the catch of the day is prepared and served straight from the sea. It doesn’t get much fresher than that!
